The trading journal that fills itself

Auto-synced from your broker, quant analytics and market replay — in one place.
Other journals show you what happened.
Evidence measures whether you changed.
Read-Only Broker Access cTrader · MT5 · ATAS · Quantower · TradingView · Binance · Bybit · IBKR No Trade Execution

Your trades arrive on their own — synced from cTrader, tracked live from your platform, or imported from a file. Evidence turns them into a structured journal, the statistics that show where your edge really is, an AI coach that reads your behaviour, and a replay that lets you trade any past day again, candle by candle.

No mockups and no edited video. What you see below is the actual Evidence application, loaded with a sample journal of ~170 trades across three accounts. Click the tabs, scroll inside it, open any screen — it is fully interactive, and nothing you do is saved anywhere.

What is Evidence

A Journal Built for Serious Traders

Evidence Trading is an analytics and journaling application for active traders. It gives you a structured way to record what you did, hard numbers on whether it worked, and a place to practise the parts that did not.

Getting trades in is not your job. Evidence syncs closed trades from the cTrader Open API — even while the app is closed, so a trade you took on your phone and forgot is journalled with its stop and target intact. It tracks trades live from MT5, ATAS, Quantower and TradingView, or imports a statement from 56 brokers and platforms — futures, stocks, options, crypto and FX alike. Search your broker by name and the right format is picked for you. Not on the list? Map the columns once, save it as your own preset, done. And you can always write a trade by hand. Every broker connection is strictly read-only: Evidence never touches open positions, pending orders or any execution layer.

From there it goes further than a logbook. Edge Lab runs the quant work on your own history — risk of ruin, MFE/MAE, what-if scenarios, Monte-Carlo projections. Strategy Lab takes an idea you can describe in a sentence, turns it into rules you click together, and tests it over years of real market data — with a parameter optimiser and a walk-forward check that tells you whether the result was an edge or just curve fitting. Market Replay rewinds the real market to any past day so you can trade it forward candle by candle. And an AI coach reads the journal you are building: it grades closed trades, names the behavioural patterns behind your losing streaks, and warns you while you are opening a trade that looks like the last mistake.

Key Features

Five things have to happen before a journal changes anything: the trades have to get in, get recorded, get measured, get behaviourally honest — and then get practised. Evidence covers all five.

01Importing your tradeswithout typing them
cTrader Auto-Sync
Connects to the cTrader Open API and imports your closed trade history by itself — live and demo accounts. Switch on background sync and it keeps going with the app closed: we watch the account for you and capture stop-loss and take-profit while the position is still open, which is the only moment your broker will tell anyone. Access is read-only: Evidence can see trades, never place or change one.
cTrader API
Live Auto-Tracking
Not on cTrader? A small tracker on MT5, ATAS, Quantower or TradingView reports your fills as they happen, so the journal fills itself there too.
4 platforms
Crypto — direct connection
Paste a read-only API key from Binance or Bybit and your fills arrive by themselves every ten minutes — app open or not, no export, no upload. Read-only means read-only: a key that is allowed to trade or withdraw is refused at the door, and the key is stored so that not even your own account can read it back.
Read-only keys
Academy
Nine written chapters on trading psychology — and under each one, your own numbers from your journal. Plus your own strategy written up as a book from your description, with your real trades on that setup as the examples. Questions after every chapter, and the ones you get wrong come back a week later.

Trading Glossary
429 terms, written out and explained — order types, chart patterns, prop firm rules, the option Greeks, the slang. Search an abbreviation such as R:R, SL or NFP and you get the words behind it plus a plain definition, and typos or paraphrases still find it. All of it free. With Pro, anything the 429 do not cover gets looked up by AI, which also says so when a word is not a trading term at all.
Free · AI lookup with Pro
Set up in three steps
Everything on this page is a lot to arrive at on day one. So a new account gets one question at a time: which broker do you trade, get your trades in, here is what they say about you. Pick your broker and the import already knows your statement format. Skippable at any point, and it never appears again once you have data. Nothing here is locked behind finishing it.
Guided start
Auto-Sync — or import anything else
Connected automatically: cTrader and Interactive Brokers directly, MetaTrader 5, TradingView, ATAS and Quantower over a live link, Binance and Bybit by read-only key. Trades arrive on their own — including the stop and target, which only exist while a position is open.

Everything else by statement: Pepperstone, IC Markets, FTMO, Topstep, NinjaTrader, Tradovate, Rithmic, tastytrade and 70+ more — search yours by name, or map any CSV yourself. Honest caveat: a statement is written after the trade closed, so it carries prices and P&L but not the stop you actually had on. Every broker, prop challenge and demo account then sits side by side.

Practise, don't guess

Trade a day that already happened

Reading your statistics tells you what went wrong. It does not give you the reps to fix it. Market Replay rewinds the real market to any past date, hides everything after it, and lets you trade forward one candle at a time — on the same screen as your journal.

Not a simulator with made-up prices

61 instruments, from free tick-accurate Dukascopy data, on every timeframe from one minute to weekly — so a top-down read runs on the same screen as the entry. You buy at the ask and sell at the bid using the spread that actually existed at that moment, not a convenient constant.

Gold and silver · the seven FX majors and 21 crosses · 15 minors including SEK, NOK, PLN, TRY, ZAR, MXN, CNH and SGD · Nasdaq 100, S&P 500, Dow 30, DAX 40, FTSE 100, CAC 40, IBEX 35, Nikkei 225, ASX 200, Hang Seng · WTI and Brent · Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and XRP.

Where the line is, plainly: replay exists for the markets where tick-accurate data actually exists. Futures, stocks and options you can journal, import and analyse in full — including the prop-firm tooling — but not replay. That is a data-licensing wall, not an oversight, and we would rather say so than let you find out after you subscribe.

Manage it like a real position
Several take-profits that scale out, break-even, a trailing stop, partial closes — and you can drag the stop or any target straight on the chart while the trade is running.
It admits what it cannot know
If your stop and your target were both inside one candle, no chart can say which came first. Evidence books the loss, marks the trade, and can settle it for real against the tick data. Most backtests quietly book the win.
Study it properly
Play at half speed or ten times it, step one candle, jump straight to the London or New York open, or to any date in the session. Trend lines, boxes, Fibonacci and notes stay glued to the candles — and your account, drawdown and profit factor are tracked the whole way.
Set the same day for someone else
Send a session as a link. Either they watch what you did, or — and this is the one coaches want — they get the identical instrument and dates with an empty account and trade it themselves. Your entries deliberately do not travel, so it is a test rather than a copy.
Learn, then prove it changed

The only trading course that can check whether it worked

Every trading psychology course tells you not to revenge trade. None of them can tell you whether you stopped. Evidence can, because it already has your trades — so a chapter does not end with advice, it ends with a number.

All 27 chapters are free to read, right now, without an account: open the Academy →

Four books, then one thing you commit to, then the measurement

Twenty-seven written chapters across four courses: trading psychology, risk and position size, reading an edge and backtesting without fooling yourself — loss aversion and tilt, sizing backwards from the loss you accept, why a win rate on its own is meaningless, how many trades it takes before any number means anything, and every way a backtest lies. Written and checked by a human, not generated, because a lesson about behaviour under risk gets read as settled fact.

Your own numbers under every chapter
How long after a loss you actually re-enter. Whether your position size drifts up after one. How many trades carry no stop. Counted from your journal — nobody guesses, and nothing is generated.
One commitment per chapter
Pick a habit — “after a loss I wait 20 minutes”. Evidence freezes where you stand today and tells you weeks later whether it moved. Before 38 %, since 11 %. That sentence is the whole point.
The questions come back
Get one wrong and it returns after seven days, then after thirty, then not again. The difference between having understood something and still knowing it in a month.
Your strategy, written up as a book
Describe how you trade and get six chapters back — including what your strategy is not — with your own trades on that setup as the examples. Winners and losers both, because a book of only winners teaches the wrong thing.
Arithmetic you operate, not pictures of arithmetic
The sizing chapter ends in a sizer you type your own account into. The chapter on losing runs ends in a simulation you re-roll until the point lands. The one on sample size shows you what your own trade count can and cannot support.
Then practise it on charts you have never seen
The drill trainer puts you at real historical locations from your own rules — the ones that worked, the ones that lost by the rules, the near-misses and the empty stretches — with the right-hand side of the chart hidden. Scored on rule adherence, never on money.

Honest limit: it measures whether a habit changed. It cannot promise the change makes you profitable, and it does not claim to.

For mentors and groups

A community where the posts carry the trades

If you run a trading group, you already know that screenshots are curated and “what did everyone trade today?” gets answered by the people having a good week. A Space is the same group with the numbers attached — and it is shipped and running, not a waitlist.

If you already run a Discord, Telegram or Skool group, start here →

Chat, voice and moderation — then the three things a chat app cannot do

Posts that carry the actual trades
Symbol, direction, entry, stop, target, exit, planned R and the result — attached to the post, not screenshotted. Press Replay on any of them and watch it play back candle by candle from before the entry.
A board that ranks process, not profit
Sorted by Evidence Score, which is 85 % process. A P&L leaderboard rewards whoever risked most — the exact behaviour a journal exists to catch. Money figures are never published to a board at all.
Nobody's journal is visible by default
Every figure another member sees was copied out by its owner on purpose. Untick one and it is not written at all, and a card comes down in one click. The journal itself stays in a document only its owner can read.
Publish your playbooks and courses
A playbook arrives as a copy members can edit. A course appears in their Academy beside the built-in ones — same chapter progress, same spaced repetition on the questions they get wrong.
Who has gone quiet
As the owner you see who has not journalled in over a week and whose process score is slipping. From the cards members published, and phrased as a prompt to ask — not a verdict.
Voice rooms and real moderation
Drop-in voice, owner/admin/mod roles, timed mutes, warnings that auto-kick, bans with an appeals process and an audit log. The unglamorous half that decides whether a community can actually live somewhere.

Honest limit: a board only shows what members chose to publish. If nobody publishes, it is empty — that is the design.

One system, not seven features

Evidence AI reads your journal — and never does the maths

Every figure it quotes is counted by the app first. The model reads results and explains them; it is explicitly forbidden to calculate, estimate or invent a number. That sounds like a small distinction until an AI tells you your Tuesday win rate is "around 60%" and you size up on it.

What it does today

Answers questions about your own trading
"Why do I keep losing on Fridays?" is answered from your performance by weekday, by entry hour, by session and by setup, plus what happens to the trade after a loss — all computed across your full history, not the last handful of trades.
Warns you while it is still avoidable
Opening something that looks like revenge trading, overtrading or a weak session gets you a warning before the entry, not a diagnosis afterwards. Closing it gets an automatic A–F review of the execution.
Reviews the session, from arithmetic first
Sequence, give-back, size drift after a loss and rule adherence are computed locally. Only then does the model write the paragraph — and a green day full of rule breaks is reported as a warning, not a win.
Turns plain words into testable rules
Describe your setup in ordinary sentences — including FVG, CHoCH, sweeps, OTE and the rest — and get back rules you can read, correct and then backtest on real bars. The model formalises; it never judges a chart.
Tags, writes and explains
Behavioural tag suggestions on your trades, a written course built from your own strategy description, and a glossary lookup for the terms the 429 curated ones do not cover — which will also tell you plainly when something is not a trading term at all.
Says when it does not know
Any slice of your history under six trades is withheld rather than reported. A 39% win rate over three trades is noise, and an AI that reads it out loud teaches you to chase noise.

Also live — Drills: describe your strategy in plain words, the AI turns it into rules you can read and correct, and a backtest finds real historical spots to practise on — including the ones where the rule fires and still loses. You are scored on following the rule, never on the result.

Where your data goes: the AI features run on Google's Gemini API, and only when you use one of them. Nothing is sent in the background, and none of it trains anybody's model. The full list of processors is in the privacy section.

Security & Data Privacy

Evidence requests a single cTrader Open API permission. This section documents exactly how that permission is used and the strict technical boundaries enforced by the application.

Evidence Trading does not place, modify, or close trades.
The application contains no trade execution logic. It is technically incapable of interacting with open orders or positions.
Permission Requested
Access any available account info
This is the only cTrader API permission requested. Used exclusively to retrieve read-only data:
Retrieve closed trade history and fill data
Read account balance and equity snapshots
Access symbol and instrument metadata
Place, modify, or cancel any order — never used
Access funds or payment methods — never used
Data Handling
Privacy & Storage Policy
All data is handled with strict privacy standards:
Trade data stored securely in user's own cloud account
Data is never sold, shared, or transmitted to third parties
API tokens scoped to individual user sessions only
Credentials never stored in plain text or logged
No data aggregation across user accounts

Where your data lives — and how it is encrypted

Concrete answers, not "bank-grade security". Every claim below is repeated verbatim in our privacy policy.

Journal storage location
EU multi-region eur3
Google Cloud Firestore, replicated across Belgium and the Netherlands. Your trades, notes and screenshots do not leave the EU.
Encryption in transit
TLS 1.2+ (TLS 1.3 preferred)
HTTPS everywhere, HSTS on the domain. The broker bridge talks to the cTrader Open API over TLS as well — no plaintext hop anywhere in the chain.
Encryption at rest
AES-256
All stored data is AES-256 encrypted at rest by the platform. Broker refresh tokens get a second layer: AES-256-GCM application-level encryption, with the key held only in the server environment — never in the database.
Who can read your journal
Only you
Per-user database rules enforced server-side. Nothing is shared unless you publish it yourself — a community post, a report link or a mentor share you can revoke. No cross-account aggregation, no selling, no ad tracking.
Broker access
Read-only, revocable
One scope, read-only. There is no order-execution code in the product. Disconnect the broker or switch off background sync and the stored token is deleted.
Passwords & payments
We never see them
Authentication is handled by Firebase Auth (passwords stored only as a salted hash on their side). Card data goes straight to Stripe — we receive a customer and subscription id, never a card number.
Sub-processors
Named, not hidden
Google (Firebase, and the Gemini API behind every AI feature — only when you use one), Cloudflare (workers), Render (broker bridge), Stripe (payments), Dukascopy & Twelve Data (price data, no personal data sent). Non-EU transfers run on Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your rights
Export & delete, any time
Full CSV/JSON export from inside the app, one-click account deletion, and GDPR access/erasure requests answered within 30 days. Cancel your subscription in the app — no email required.

Drop in a statement from any supported broker — the format is detected automatically. Anything unknown still works: assign the columns yourself once and save it as your own preset.

A statement carries prices and P&L, but not the stop you had on — brokers do not write it out once the position is closed. If your broker is one we connect to directly, Auto-Sync keeps the stops.
